Senior Ivy Turner Chosen As Captain of Lady Noles' Varsity Softball Team

March 12th, 2018

For the 2017-2018 school year, IB senior Ivy Turner was chosen to be the captain of the varsity softball team. This year will be her fourth year playing on the high school varsity softball team and her last. In regard to her experience playing softball, she says “I've really enjoyed it, however, I've enjoyed playing outside of travel more.” There are all types of leaders with various leadership styles and skills yet Ivy wants “to be a stronger leading captain”, one that can control her teammates when they are out of control but not too strict either. A stronger leadership quality determines she has which she brings to the team is her “fairness when determining the equality of a situation”.

Although the teams’ weakness lies in their ability to communicate their thoughts fluently without interruption from one another, one of their greatest strengths greatest strengths is being on the same page during games and understanding each other. The team’s goal for this year is to make it to Regionals and districts which they are confident they will achieve.

To anyone who wants to play softball, Ivy advises them to “come try out and be open to learning the fundamentals of the game. The coaches are really great when teaching new players how to play”.

"I want to be a stronger leading captain."
